Eutelsat KONNECT: our new satellite providing satellite Internet access for everyone offers speeds of up to 100 Mbps everywhere in Portugal. Finally, there is a solution that is fast, reliable, and accessible in areas that have traditionally had poor Internet service.
The history of satellite Internet for home broadband began in 2012 when Eutelsat became the first satellite Internet provider in Europe with the launch of our first satellite dedicated to high-speed Internet.
Covering Portugal and 15 other countries in Europe and North Africa, Eutelsat enabled hundreds of thousands of homes and companies that suffered from poor connectivity to have an Internet connection similar to ADSL, offering an alternative to fibre broadband without having to wait for ground or mobile networks to be deployed.
Eutelsat KONNECT, our latest Very High Speed (VHS) satellite came into operation in 2020. This new satellite offers our best satellite Internet to date, with more services and even greater speeds.
Superfast broadband connections are now available without a landline for everyone, even in the most remote locations.
Can you live wherever you want and still get a superfast connection? You can now.
Our technology offers better performance than ADSL. With download speeds up to 100 Mbps available, speeds are comparable to a fibre connection.
How does satellite Internet performance compare to other technologies?
Eutelsat KONNECT is a geostationary satellite: it’s in orbit 36,000 km above the Earth, which means it is orbiting at the same speed as our planet rotates, so it provides all of the covered zones with a fixed, superfast Internet connection. Technology and human engineering come together to offer high-performance connectivity.
KONNECT is a High Throughput Satellite (HTS). It beams signal onto several zones to form the konnect coverage area. Download speeds of up to 100 Mbps can be reached anywhere within this area.
The satellite Internet dish and modem needed to receive konnect satellite Internet is worth hundreds of pounds. To make access to this technology easier, we provide this equipment at no charge, so a maximum number of people can connect to the Internet, wherever they may be, without having to pay a small fortune.
